Project Summary

Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold6 and Galaxy Z Flip6 are the first foldable smartphones to integrate AI technology. While AI features were first introduced in the Galaxy S24 model, Samsung wanted to ensure that users of these new foldable models could easily understand and utilize the enhanced AI capabilities. Hansem Global was tasked with crafting a user manual that would not only meet this need but also improve the overall user experience.

Our Solutions

Content Structure Redesign

We concluded that creating a dedicated heading for AI features would significantly improve user engagement. By consolidating all AI-related functionalities under a new heading—“Galaxy AI”—users could easily access information about AI features in one centralized location.

This adjustment maintained the detailed descriptions of AI’s role within individual topics but introduced a new, intuitive structure where users could explore all AI functionalities without sifting through different sections. Organizing information in this way ensures that users can readily find and explore AI capabilities.

Selection of Highly Usable Topics and User-Centered Explanation

We prioritized the inclusion of features that are likely to be frequently used. While these features are already covered under other main topics in the manual, they are functions that users may not easily discover unless they specifically search for them. Therefore, we selected features with high user utility and designated them as subtopics under the main heading of Galaxy AI.

For example, we increased the exposure of the “Translating or summarizing” feature, which was previously only mentioned as part of the Samsung Internet screen explanation, by adding it as a standalone topic under Galaxy AI. We also introduced new topics such as “Translating conversations,” which is a feature that users are likely to use frequently.

In addition to selecting key features, we simplified explanations to focus on user experience, making it clear what users could achieve with these AI features and how to access them. Our goal was to present the information in a way that was intuitive and user-friendly.

User-Friendly Headings

We also applied a user-centered approach to the headings. Each topic under the “Galaxy AI” section was reworded to reflect what the user could accomplish, rather than just listing the feature name. For example, features such as “Translating phone calls in real time” and “Translating messages in message apps” were grouped under a broader category—“Enhancing your communication.” Additionally, app or feature names were included in parentheses to provide clear guidance on where the feature could be accessed.

Collaboration and Feedback

Throughout the process, Hansem Global’s team of technical writers gathered input through brainstorming sessions, incorporating diverse perspectives to refine the manual’s structure. These insights were continuously shared with Samsung, leading to iterative improvements based on client feedback.

Outcome

The resulting user manual for the Galaxy Z Fold6 and Galaxy Z Flip6 successfully highlighted AI functionality while maintaining a user-centered approach. The addition of the “Galaxy AI” heading not only emphasized the product’s AI capabilities but also sparked user curiosity. This reorganization made it significantly easier for users to find and explore AI features without needing to search through multiple sections. Clear explanations of each function’s purpose and usage further encouraged users to try out the features, ultimately increasing product engagement and satisfaction.
